Information for Graduates

Arrival Time

Graduates should arrive by 8 a.m. on the day of their ceremony and will gather by the staging area outside Lowry Hall/the Library.

Rehearsal

Graduates should watch the entirety of the rehearsal video prior to arrival to ensure they are ready to participate in the ceremony.

Graduate Attire

Acceptable attire includes:

  • Short-sleeved white or light colored shirt/blouse (with dark tie)
  • Light-weight dark-colored trousers/pants
  • Light-weight dress
  • Dark shoes
  • Dress sandals (as long as they are not loud when walking)

Unacceptable attire includes:

  • Jeans
  • Shorts
  • Athletic shoes
  • Sandals
  • Flip-flops
  • Stilettos
  • Platform shoes

Who qualifies for this year’s ceremonies?

2020 Commencement

Includes anyone who had their degree conferred for Fall 2019, Spring 2020, or Summer 2020.

2021 Commencement

Includes anyone who had their degree conferred for Fall 2020, is on pace for conferral for Spring 2021, or meets the criteria to participate but will be a Summer 2021 conferral. Your eligibility to participate is included in the official review information that is provided after you apply for graduation.

If a student wants to be allowed to participate in the other Commencement group, they need to submit an Academic Appeal providing context to their request.

Information registering to attend and requesting tickets can be found on the RSVP and Guest Tickets page. Registration and requests for tickets should have been completed by May 3.

Cap and Gown Packages from Herff Jones

The online order deadline for ordering a cap and gown from Herff Jones was April 27 at 11:59 p.m. The cap and gowns should have shipped directly to the students within 2-3 weeks from when they order. Students who are 2020 graduates will receive a 2020 tassel and students who are 2021 grads will receive a 2021 tassel. Order online here!

Graduation Application

Graduating students should have submitted a degree application by April 9.

Degree candidates must finish “Incomplete” grades, forward any necessary transcripts, and clear all obligations with the Hub for Enrollment Services and library in order to graduate.

If you have any doubt that all holds have been cleared from your record please visit the Hub for Enrollment Services immediately.

Carillon Ceremony

The Carillon Ceremony has been postponed until April 23, 2022, 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Graduates should still expect a champagne glass gift in the meantime!
